doris, I'm seriously thinking you're related to Bill Hicks?

LOL.....Could be.....

I'm just an old git who gets pissed off with the current trend where people look for others to take responsibility. Its happening all over the place. What we need to do is to start taking responsibility for our own actions and deal with the problems we all face ourselves.

I would've agreed with a few years ago, now I just don't care....

Yes please, it would be helpful to persons who have others to do than live in the chat room all day, to be alerted that the hideous gorgon is posting under the name of Doris_Day.

Please do not let this thread turn into a slanging match.

Everyone in entitled to their opinion and of course not everyone is going to agree.

I don't think it is going to be possible for us to relay all Betfair Announcements by email as sometimes there simply isn't enough time.

We can however put such announcements in the "News Page" which you will see when you first open Betting Assistant.

And I think, based on past experience, that it is wise to be wary of using the software just after Betfair have done their maintenance.

Regards,
Mark

yeah, i got the email too about planned outage, but no notification that the ensuring problems were and are still ongoing,...

Just been on the BF forum, no further updates about the API so does that mean it's up and running now? Anyone tried it out?

We did what we could do advise users. Sorry it wasn't enough. We will see if we can learn by this and do better next time. Maybe a warning within the program that is hard to ignore. I don't think a mass email is going to be good enough because they may be delayed by your ISP and they still might not be read.

I don't see why they couldn't do a mass email tbh. They send enough crap out about the casino, arcade etc etc.

Yeah, been running this morning and looks ok so far, wouldn't take it to heart Gary, at the end of the day it was a Betfair problem and they don't communicate their problems very well, and a 24 hour downtime was exceptional.

Haven't tried it myself yet but there are still people on the betfair forum reporting it as busted.

The website still has issues. I get an XMPP error box each time I go to the site. Then, even when I close down the Betfair tab on Firefox, I get a strange pop-up appear from my taskbar about Betfair chat having to reconnect. Odd....

I think I may have fixed that by uninstalling Betfair Extras, which I dont think they support any longer anyway.

Well the good news is that, for me at least, the API seems to be working well and is more efficient at bet matching than before the upgrade. At last.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
