TPD

Postby alrodopial » Sat Nov 19, 2022 6:31 pm

Hi,
very first thoughts
I like it, I really like the way it displays the increase/decrease/more/less in speed/position
Time for coding in excel

1. The box for the leader is not large enough to display the furlongs ahead in one row (attached pic)
2. I would prefer boxes displaying speed before the actual off at the left of the TPD grid, then disappear, this way you can see when the race is about to start if all horses have small speeds.
3. I would also prefer an extra empty column at the right making the leader appear not at the far right , by the edge of the display
4. You can add rank for speed in additional columns , useful info, it will help us not coding it
5. Maybe an increase at map's zoom, currently many horses are very close to each other
6. Extra info needed for some additional columns:
running time (s) - when does it starts compared to cells E2/F2
smoothed velocity - what it is
stride frequency - what it is
stride frequency (course par) - what it is
position prediction in 1 sec - based on speed?
timestamp (ms) - what it is

TPD froze in one race in running but the rest of the data kept coming
I found it lightweight, impressive

forgot it:
when the "update prices whet TPD data updates" is ticked, how does this affects the order of how excel in updated?
16 columns first, additional columns then, all at once? When and how often additional columns update when eg only BSP or when TPD?

Thanks for the feedback. I am working on some of your suggestions. I will post an update and answer your queries as soon as possible.

16 columns first, additional columns then, all at once? When and how often additional columns update when eg only BSP or when TPD?

It does not change how it is normally updated. It is the same as when the option is not ticked. It just means the prices grid will be updated as soon as the next TPD update is received instead of waiting for the next price refresh interval. The TPD columns are updated at the same time as BSP and all other additional columns.

It's probably because there was a problem with the feed but cannot rule out a bug. Can you send the diagnostic log to admin@gruss-software.co.uk

Yes, that's what I needed. There weren't any errors logged so I need to add code that logs why the grid was not updated. It's either because no updates received or a bug. I will add an indicator to the grid in the event that no data is being received when the market is in play. I will also add another column to Excel for this.

something for the future,
when the map is loaded or reloaded (zoom change) both BF data and TPD data freeze.
Ideally none should. For betting none or both should freeze
The furlongs left at the top of the map is a very good add - needed -
I also liked the direction of running horses
Speed ranking is ok
Very promising is the map side by side with the live video

It's the one thing I've had to compromise on. .Net is not very quick at resizing images and also insists on blocking the user interface even if ran in a different thread. I have a solution though and will release an update shortly. The resize is necessary to ensure efficient updating of the map. I may find a better solution in the future.

Do you think an option to automatically include with live video popup would be a good idea?

I don't think it will make any real change, adding options is always a plus but I think it would be better if you focus on other improvements/changes you have in mind/suggested.
At the moment the way TPD is implemented is ok, I see no further changes needed

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
