Question Re RP Tissue Prices

Postby dgs2001 » Wed Sep 24, 2008 10:14 pm

Gary/Mark

Or indeed any other helpful person :)

I am using the example RP tissue prices code Gary posted a while ago.

However I seem unable to auto regenerate the pick list and get the next days RP tissue prices without restarting my excel workbook.

I can get BA to regenerate pick lists etc using -3 and betfair prices get correctly logged to my sheets, but the RP tissue prices just display 0.

If I shut the excel workbook and reopen it all is ok till the next day when I have the same problem.

Having looked at Garys code I thought "PricesLoaded" may need resetting but that didnt work :(

Help please

Thanks Duncan

Setting pricesLoaded should be the key. Did you make the pricesLoaded variable public?

eg.
Code: Select all
public pricesLoaded as boolean

not

Code: Select all
dim pricesLoaded as boolean

Gary

This didnt work either.

I'm not really sure why my next idea is that it is to do with the date?

If I get it working and then do a reset on the same day it works fine but if its the next day it does'nt unless I restart the workbook.

The good news is I've discovered that shutting and restarting the workbook does not affect BA's logging, i.e. I don't have to restart and set up BA :)

sporting life live prices

Postby yursaduian » Fri Sep 26, 2008 2:21 pm

Hi all

I'm having the same trouble with this. When I first saw Gary's post I thought Christmas had come early.

I know nothing about VBA and was hoping to just copy and paste the code into my worksheet but just like dgs2001, although the usual figures come through ok, there is no sign of the Sporting Life prices.

I've seen Gary's reply but I dont know where or what to look for in the code to alter anything.

Do I need to "activate" something or do I have to paste it into somewhere special?

Any help really would be appreciated

Cheers

Ian
This may be a different problem.

I think you may need to enable macros.

Try searching Google for Excel help, the Mr Excel forum has been very helpful to me over the past 6 months taking my Excel knowledge from nothing to absolute beginer.

These forums are also a great place to ask for help, although I'm not the best person to answer!!

Duncan

Thanks for the reply mate.

I really am learning more each day and have now managed to write my own macros which I already use in my worksheet but I dont get any "enable macros" warning when I use Gary's code. In fact the code works fine - except for the bits I actually want - the live prices!!

I'll have a look at the site you suggested and hopefully find something helpfull there - until then its good old copy and paste for me :)

Thanks again
Cheers

Duncan - done it - ha ha ha !!!

And without any help whatsoever from the nerdy eversohelpfull boffins on this forum.

I dont know if you managed to get what you wanted but give us a shout if you think I might be able to help.

You never know, two obviously inferior (but helpful) brains might just be able to work thing out eh?

Cheers

Hi Guys,

has anyone managed to successfully adapt Gary's code to get the next days
tissue prices?

Or indeed has anyone adapted it to pull other data from the race cards, I've been trying but am getting nowhere.

Anybody who is able to explain what each section of the code does would be very helpful indeed.

Anyone? :D

Sorry mate

I just copy and paste the prices to my spreadsheet when Racing Post prices go online early evening.

As for what the code means, it may as well be written in Swahili for all I know, it works and I'm just happy for that!

Good luck

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
