doris_day wrote:eyesnack, depends what you mean by 'longterm'. Perhaps you can post some data of results for the past year or two.

By 'trivial', I meant the algorithm that decides which to bet on. If there is some hidden code that I've missed then fair enough but it looks like the choice is somewhat simple. And v easy to code.

Regarding me not offering any spreadsheets, at least I'm not spamming the forum offering trials to apps which then have to be paid for.

spill the beans please doris what does the bot do? i cant be arsed to register for that tacky looking thing

Yes Doris I have done that, even says on BA it's linked, the Excel sheet is refreshing at a fast rate, nothing whatsoever happens betswise..

Knot, thanks for those kind words. Perhaps you can tell me exactly why no bets get fired, as you seem very knowledgeable. Or are you a thicko?

I don't want one written and I do not even like greyhound racing, I would just like to make this work and understand what I'm missing.

As for yourself you are just one of the lazy moaning twats that trawl this board bad mouthing anybody who is willing to help.

No wonder people are reluctant to help other board members with arses like you around

Well knot i like to see how my betting is doing while at work, so being able to have e-mails sent to my mobile phone every 15 mins or so is very usefull. also my bot also can be programmed to change some of its betting criteria via incoming e-mail using #commands in the subject line to increase/decrease stake, change betting odds, when bet is placed and also to stop the bot. the e-mails are read using as they come into my inbox by excel which then parses them to a command spreadsheet that controls the bot.

But like a said to doris u2 r a complete waste of space and i wont be bothering to reply to anymore of your posts.

The "free trial" offer is your mistake here eyesnack. You should not of mentioned the word trial then maybe your spam would of worked better  I dont think anyone has ever made greyhound betting work long term but whos to say its not possible.

I made it pay for a year now

Postby 2020vision » Sun Mar 01, 2009 11:50 am

Hi Arnold and All :)

this is not to brag but I have made greyhound backing/laying pay
consistantly for one year now. NEVER a losing week, average £800
per month. I only wish I had the brains to learn how to do some of
this automated/triggered betting because my method is manual.

It takes me about 2 to 4 hours per day, pretty simple but obviously
very boring. If only I knew how to automate it? Could actually make
substantially more if I could be bothered, but I have a bit of a life too!
The Betfair Premium Charge stinks and I get fed up filling their coffers!

I am sure it could be automated but not quite sure how?

That's all for now, all the best - Michael :)

P.S. Shame about the bickering above?

2020vision, there are plenty of free Excel tutorials around and Excel anyway is pretty intuitive once you've spent a few hours reading up on the stuff.
The BA spreadsheets that have been posted by Gary are a great start and usually, if you have a well defined logic for working out your bets, there'll be a simple routine that will be able to automate it.
If you think you can make a lot more automating your system then it'll be well worth the little effort to learn Excel yourself.
All of my Betfair trading uses Excel routines I worked out myself with BA and I'm not a genius.

Thanks for your encouragement :)

not sure where to start?

Have looked at GHB site and that program kinda gets close and
would allow me to semi-automate. But ideally I would like to pull
greyhound info from RPost site and then "teach Excel" how I read it.
Place the appropriate bets at the right times (both back and lay),
change market automatically and trade me out with the best loss
or profit that I could expect - but this sounds a lot easier than done
to me? Maybe it is time for me to start a bit more research and see
if even a halfway measure is possible? (i.e. I program the bets I would
like to make and then hope the rest comes together).

I am not actually stupid but am having a tough time getting my
head around how to set up and work triggered betting in my absence?
Also I am worried that I fire in a bet when practicing that could
cause me to lose a small fortune because it went in at wrong price.

Thanks again - Michael :)

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
