Who gets the Money?

Postby brumbie » Tue May 28, 2019 11:47 pm

Yesterday/Today I backed Jackhammer in the 6.50 at Ayr for a place @1.28 and it was a dead heat for third. For my 1 point stake I received only .64 back (so I lost altho I won). I'm sure this has been asked before but can any kind or knowledgeable soul please tell me who gets the .36 of a point that I lost as I'm fairly sure the layer wouldn't collect on a losing bet? :(

It's a winning bet for the layer. With dead heats where two selections have a payout your bet is settled by assuming half your stake won and half lost. Obviously if you dead heated second and it paid 3 places you'd be paid in full.

So the layers bet is settled as 0.5 win and pays out 0.5 * 0.28. so his return is 0.5 - (0.5x0.28) = 0.36

1.14 so my stake back + 0.14 (50%)..oh well...thanks again. :(

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
