Offset Bet at Lower Stake

Postby AndrewP » Fri Aug 02, 2019 12:56 pm

Subject to certain conditions I would like to back a selection to £10 stake and when matched, lay it one tick lower to £9. Any suggestions as to how I might achieve this?

One way would be to make a £1 back bet followed by a £9 offset back bet. But how do I clear the bet reference of the first bet and ensure this is not then duplicated but the second bet is placed?

Another way might be to log the same market to two separate areas on a worksheet, one set up for the £1 bet and one set up for the £9 bet. How do I do this?

A third way would be using VBA. One for the Captain perhaps?

Why not use the bet log to track when your back bet has been matched and then place the lay bet accordingly. You can use “CLEAR” first to clear any residual bet references

You could simply have two tabs open logging to separate sheets if you don't want to get too complicated or use VBA. Just have one send a £1 bet and the other sheet send a £9 with the 1 tick offset set in the trigger You can use the mybets sheet to see when bets are matched

Thanks guys.

I went for the two sheet solution in the end and now have over a hundred successfully triggered bets after ironing out some glitches in my conditional formulas.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
