Override odds with Tick Offset

Postby kenprior » Wed Apr 18, 2007 9:47 am

Is it possible to use the Override Odds facility in conjunction with the Tick Offset option.
What I want to do is to lay a selection "in running" using the Override Odds facility (with the Maximum Odds set to 6.0 in the Lay box) and at the same time set the Tick Offset box to a preset amount so that a Back bet is submitted as soon as the Lay bet is filled. eg lay @ max. of 6.0 & back @ 10 ticks higher than achieved Lay price .

Regards,

Ken Prior.

Talking of which, can anyone explain the override odds function a bit better for me?

I've never really understood properly (and thus have never used it) the brief description in the readme that says:

"Override odds
When this is ticked the odds that are input in the top right hand corner of the screen will be requested and not the odds that are on offer. You may find this useful for in running for example."

"top right hand corner of the screen"

Huh???

Thanks.

It works by ignoring the odds that are available for backing/laying at the time you strike your bet.

So you want to back a selection @ 4.0, the odds available are say 3.6 - you can click on the 3.6 but your bet will be for 4.0

If you want to lay then if the actual lay odds are 3.0 and you have 2.7 as your odds you can click on the 3.0 but your bet will be at 2.7

And the odds are top left hand corner - the odds you enter in lay odds or back odds.

Thanks spud.

Thought as much; it was actually the description "top right hand corner of the screen" that was throwing me, presumably this is the top right hand corner of the pop up window that appears should you have verify bets ticked.

That said and unless i'm missing something, i'm still puzzled as to it's usefulness - particularly as you can achieve a similar effect, betting with verify bets ticked and merely altering the odds to suit your purpose, before you click ok.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
