Betfair Trader v 0.99v - is it still updated/maintained?

Postby one cool dog » Sun Sep 09, 2007 1:07 pm

Hi

Used this for the first time yesterday in a while and worked but with some very weird going's on.

I like betting in running and some of my green-up offers were very bizarre, so I ignored them. Eg, it moved an increment of a fiver bet and offered me a free £50 on all runners. It would be some piece of software if it managed that

Anyway, it is no hassle at all (oh yes, exporting to Excel did not seem to work either) but just wanted to know what the stance on this is?

I am not really playing properly on the Flat but will upgrade to Alpha when Jumps kicks in properly.

Regards

Oh, and if there is a upgrade can some post me the link. I am guessing not because I suspect it would update automatically.

Please advise the exact version number you were using. There are no outstanding issues with green up with the latest versions so I am surprised you had a problem.

Hi

I realise it is low priority, so I am not demanding changes.

It is impossible to replicate here to show you as it is an in-running green-up and I could not screen shot it.

What I would say, if it helps, is my balance goes like this -

.143.94

There seems to be a rogue . in front of the total?

I can only say that I would usually bet in fivers, for the moment, and if I back and a price moves in my favour, I have occasions where my green up (the figure goes black) gives me a win of £75 or such like across the field for moving in my favour by a couple of points, when my win is only say £35 total.

The rest of the time things in the green-up column look absolutley fine and pretty much look how I would expect it to.

Version is pre-release ver v0.99

This may have always been there, but noticed this in my Market Information box, the bit that I can see says

<table cellborder=\"0\" width=\"100%\"><tr><td><img src=\"http://content-cache.betfair.com/images/en_GB/homepage/RUKlogo.gif\" border=\"0\"></a></td><td width=\"5\">&nbsp;</td><td class=\"marketInfo_GreyText\">This meeting is on RACING UK</a></td></tr></table>

Don't remember seeing that there before, when I used it months ago, but that might be just a lack of memory on my behalf.

No hurry, just wondered what was happening?

Somehow you are running a much older version, the latest version is 0.99z18, it has failed to auto update. You are reporting bugs that were fixed a while back.

Uninstall it using the control panel then re-install it from http://www.gruss-software.co.uk/Betfair_Trader_99r.msi

There must be some confusion here.

I clicked that link, installed it and it's asking me to a pay a subscription, which I presume is the beta version??

I have one of your first Betfair Trader's on a data pen - looks exactly the same admittedly - but it can be used by me for free.

Please don't think I am having a go asking for updates, but I presumed there was a free one still floating about that you stopped enhancing, with a 0.5 refresh and fairly basic format. It does sound like I am being a cheapskate, but I am not getting back into in properly for about a month and a fiver to a married guy can, amazingly, go a long way if I am not using it for anything much.

No hassle if there is nothing newer about, just a question really.

Can't wait to try Alpha soon.

Hi,

Just to clarify.
Since we went subscription based, there is no free version at all apart from when you are on the initial 30 day trial.
However, once you have paid for a subscription you can use any of the versions whether that be Betfair Trader, Betting Assistant, Betting Assistant Beta or Betting Assistant Alpha.

All versions are currently maintained but only Beta and Alpha are being developed.

Regards,
Mark

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
