I have created a new launcher program which will retry the update each time you open the program if the update fails, it should also display an error message if a file download fails. Please re-install from http://www.gruss-software.co.uk/Betting ... ublish.htm and let me know if it fails to update in future.

Installed the new version from the above link and I'm getting loads of error messages from the BA launcher program.

eg error downloading, operation timed out.

The program when it opens is v1.0.0.75 though.

Do all the error messages show 'Downloading' followed by a file name and then an error message underneath or are there other messages (eg. unhandled exceptions?). Your firewall isn't blocking the launcher program is it?

Gary, installed latest launcher from the link but I'm still getting the error messages as follows

Error downloading ...... BettingAssistant.exe
Access to the path ...... BettingAssistant.exe is denied

Then

Error downloading ...... IRemotelib.ddl
Access to the path ...... IRemotelib.ddl is denied

Then

Error downloading ...... Intertop,TDClib.ddl
Operation has timed out

Then

Error downloading ...... Intertop.VBIDE.ddl
Operation has timed out

I've only got the firewall that comes with Vista and it makes no difference if I switch it off.

Access to path denied, that's the problem. Does the error message show the path it is downloading to and is it the same folder where BA is installed? Maybe it's a permissions problem, Vista has a 'run as administrator' option, does this make any difference.

That's the solution !! - has be be "run as administrator". I think you can change the properties of the shortcut to always run as administrator.

Thanks, I'll have to make Vista users aware of this.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
