Carry Offset Betting In-Play

Postby AndrewP » Mon Nov 19, 2007 2:51 pm

Hi All,

Am I right in thinking that if only the first part of an 'offset bet' (e.g. the back part of a back then lay bet) is matched prior to the race going'in-play' then the second part cancels and does transfer in-play? If so, anyone got a workaraound?

Hi,

You are correct, when a market goes in play all unmatched bets are cancelled which includes 'offset bets' which may have been placed by the Tick Offset feature of our software.
There is no current work around.

However Betfair recently announced that there is going to be an option to carry unmatched bets through to in play. This option will be available to us via the API so as soon as it is available it will be included.

Mark

Hi there,

I read with interest the possibilty of functionality of carrying unmatched bets into in play once a event goes in play via the API. I would be very grateful if anyone could let me know whether this is possible from the excel spreadsheet link.

Many thanks,
Matt

Hi,

Yes you can do this now.....add -IP to your trigger and if the bet is unmatched it will keep the bet in play.
Also you can add -SP which also keeps the bet but changes the price to the SP price once it goes in play.

Mark

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
