API change

Postby Dedes » Sun Feb 19, 2006 8:58 pm

Hi,

I've read over the web that Betfair is making some change on their API. Is this going to make any diference for us, users of BA?

Thanks

Quote from Betfair ......

We are writing to inform you that the API Software Vendor License for the Betsportfolio/Oddstrader products will be suspended from 16th of March (30 days from today). You will no longer be able to access the Betfair API through these products after that time. We are doing this because Global Gaming Technologies, the company who hold the API Software Vendor License, have issued statements about their product which do not comply with the terms of their license. An example of this is the statement that they are launching the first betting platform which allows consumers to ‘transact with one click across a number of exchanges’. The full press release can be viewed here: http://www.thelondonstockexchange.com/L ... source=RNS. Functionality allowing users to transact across betting platforms with one click is not something that we wish to facilitate or encourage by providing API access. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause. If you have further questions please contact the Betfair Developers Program team at bdp@betfair.com.

So it looks as though 'Betsportfolio' have had the rug pulled from underneath them!!!

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
