Betfair SP

Be very careful using this feature.

I've laid a horse today that was trading around the 16-17 mark at the off @ 64.3 and another that was around the 25-26 mark @ 39.0. God knows how the calculation works but it appears that it can be easily manipulated.

Further anonomly from the Betfair forum. Favourite trading for thousands at around 1.33 - Betfair SP 1.45. Overround on the race 91%.

Never tick the SP In Play button !!

Ian those figures you quote are unbelievable, if you were talking about anyone but our beloved Betfair

On a serious note i hope it didn’t cost you. I did read on the Betfair forum back in December that it would be insane of anyone to back or lay SP without setting parameters.
There was no exact formula posted for how the SP was worked out, just loads of vague opinions that forumites claimed came from Betfair, but the consensus was it could be manipulated and in the most extreme cases could be anything from 1.01 to 1000 on any priced selection. Well i don’t know how or if that could possibly be true but your figures do suggest it can be a very scary lucky bag.

On a personnel note i’m well pi$$ed with the SP. I use the web site and Gruss for my particular trading methods, and since, well let’s just say the site became less than adequate, i haven’t traded a single football match. I know there are fast links to using the old site but it all seems too much effort now plus i have lost confidence in using their web site.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
