Help please Re: refresh charges

Postby treehead » Sun Apr 20, 2008 5:20 pm

I have had four pages up at once monitoring markets in the Newcastle v sunderland game , then the same in the Man city v Pompey game. I set the throttle request at 20 and then noticed the number in brackets was (357).
I reread your info and realised my mistake.
In future do I divide the 20 by the number of markets I have running?
Giving your payment example in the info, am I going to be met with a £35 bill from Betfair for monitoring these makets over a few hours?

Regards

The request box is ticked, but not highlighted like everything else.
So I cant untick it.
I have since brought the number down to 5, but it still seems to go above the setting.
Good news is that (357) hasn't gone up.

You have to tick 'Throttle requests'. The throttle limit will be ignored unless you you tick this option. When it is ticked you will see that the number of requests never exceeds 20 no matter how many markets you are monitoring.

Thanks for getting back so quickly.
Can you tell me if I will be liable for the number in the bracket and will it cost me what I peviously posted?

What version are you running? Prior to version 1.1.0.2 it was possible for the occasional request to exceed the limit when set to 20, but nothing excessive. If you are not running the latest version (1.1.0.6) then please install from http://www.gruss-software.co.uk

Multiply the amount in brackets by £0.001 = £0.357 = 35 pence

Also the option is not available to untick if you have not ticked the startup message that appears each time you open the program notifying of the new request charges. Is this message still appearing each time you open the program? If so then scroll down to the bottom of the message, enter your Betfair username and tick that you agree.

treehead I wouldn't get too hung up on the data charges as long as you'd paid 7p in commission you wouldn't have incurred any charges due to the offset they apply.

http://content.betfair.com/aboutus/?pro ... %20Charges

For every £1 in commission either that you've paid or implied commission (i.e. the amount the winner would have paid on one of your losing bets) you'd get 5000 requests over the 20 without incurring charges.

I apologise if this has been covered elsewhere, but I have been through the forum and I could not find it being mentioned......

It was just that I was wondering what are the implications if, in the above case, the throttle limit gets reduced down to 5 requests per second.

What is the actual downside to this setting i.e. How is the performance actually affected......?

What difference would the user actually see......?

Thanks.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
