Best Possible Back Price

Postby Shaun » Wed Aug 13, 2008 5:50 am

This may sound like a strange question but how do i get the best price on offer, i have a trigger set to fire with 30 seconds to go before the off to back the best price from cells B,D,F and another triger set at 15 until off that will update unmatched bets.

Would it be a good idea to also include a couple of the lay prices aswell, if the horse is drifting in price it might be better to try for a higher price listed in the lay section.

Col F is always the biggest back price - you don't need to look at B or D. I always ask for the next tick up from the current back price - Gary put some code up to do this a while back - but you may not get matched if you do it as close to the off as you do.

I guess it is a give and take situation, somtimes you will get a higher price than the final price and other times you won't, over here in Aus some bookies offer best of 3 totes so they pay us the highest final price of the 3 totes we have in Australia.

Most times betfair is higher than this price but if the fluctuations and movements are large the price on betfair can change in a short time as you all know, so it is a game of cat and mouse to get the best price and to have your bet matched.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
