Data Charges with BA

Postby shevek » Tue Sep 09, 2008 1:15 pm

hi,

so is it just the requests that are throttled and not the transactions?

i was under the impression that as i set the throttle to 19 it was impossible to incur any data charges, however today i was charged over £18

waiting for details from betfair but i believe the charge was for exceeding the transaction per hour, rather than requests per second.

is this possible?

can you throttle it in BA?

Hi Shevek

I've incurred this charge on many occasions, at present I'm sure there is no way to throttle transactions made by BA, but it you trigger bets via excel then you could include in your formula to stop betting if the transaction counter reached 1000.
I suggested the following a while back but got no feedback

Gary

Would it be possible to show next to the Transaction Counter the amount of transactions exceeded for the day?

Maybe in brackets like the Transaction Requests. So say a figure of 867 (145) would mean during the current hour I’ve made 867 transactions but overall for the day I've exceeded the 1000 per hour limit by 145.

So a charge of 145 x £0.01 = £1.45 is incurred.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
