recording data

Postby shadeed » Mon May 18, 2015 8:52 pm

Hi - just starting out trading. Understand the basics and have been having a 'play' with live trading but quickly obvious that the absence of a strategy=guessing=losses. In terms of developing a trading strategy I am assuming analysing historical markets for repeated trends/patterns is a starting point How do I go about recording a series of markets (say, horse racing markets) so that I can then examine them? Is such data already available anywhere?

I record all the days races to an excel spreadsheet simply by loading all the races from a Quick List into a single tab and then using the Excel facility in the program.

Howeger, I am encountering a problem in that it is a bit hit and miss when it decides to send the information across. sometimes causing a significant delay. The Excel log gives the following info:

12:14:13:187: Excel not updated. Requesting bets refresh. Last bets refreshed market does not match current market.
12:23:56:66: Requesting Excel refresh. Origin cell:A1
12:23:56:66: Excel update skipped. First update after market changed.

What exactly is this telling me?

Thanks

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
