Paddy & Betfair

So PP have 52% of the merger this morning. Where will that lead the exchange to ?
I must say I'm pretty negative and think while it will bumble along, they'll eventually let it die in its own time.
The exchange model however has been shown to be viable, so there's room for the remaining exchanges to combine and move forward.
This is a big blow to the fans of exchanges. That's my opinion but it would be nice to hear from some others.

The exchange has always taken a backseat since Corcoran took over so hard to see things getting much worse. Can't see Betfair dropping the exchange as it obviously earns them money and gives hedging opportunities, prices etc. Be interesting to see if they look to bring the exchange into the shops, PP has always been more forward thinking and willing to take risks than Betfair ever have.

Be a dream scenario if they brought it into their shops, but considering BF stopped supporting exchange shops I just can't see it happening.

Don't think the exchange shops took off the way Betfair wanted the to. They just needlessly costs them money as they paid a percentage of turnover to the shop owners and just highlighted how unfair the exchanges could be with certain players having access to fast feeds so they could fleece the average in play punter in record time.

could PP bring in lay betting to the shop ?

if it is 5,0 on betfair

they might make a spread in the shops of :
4.5 to back
5.5 to lay

something along them lines

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
