So Perhaps You Guys Will Deign To Tell Me What Happened Here

Postby kiint » Thu Sep 10, 2015 8:54 pm

So I have a number of matched bets and a single unmatched bet on the 20:40 at Chelmsford.
I adjust the odds on the by right clicking to bring up the bet update box and hit okay. Box does nothing but sits there taunting me and the rest of the intertface freezes. I try to close the dialog box by hitting the X and instead, the whole bloody application closes. No "Do you want to exit" dialog, it just crashes out at a point I could have greened up for a profit but instead leaves me with an 80 quid loss.

Pissed off?
Yes, you could say that.

It would appear that Betfair were 'experiencing problems' yesterday but failed to inform their customers, as yesterday Betting Assistant kept freezing for at least ten seconds at a time on at least three occasions! I run a BOT and have code to deal with the above issues, thank heavens. Perhaps other people would care to comment as well to clarify the position?

Hi,

Apparently, last night Betfair did report some network issues affecting some customers which could have affected the API feed and therefore made the software appear to freeze.
However crashes are quite rare, i.e. where the software closes without any message.
We have made the software as robust as possible but all Windows programs can crash unexpectedly.
It is a good idea to have the Betfair website open so that you can close any open position in this rare circumstance.

Regards,
Mark

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
