Getting last matched price before the "Off"

Postby FlyByNight » Fri Oct 23, 2015 8:32 pm

Hi all,

Could anyone please help with function for getting last matched price before the "Off" horse racing. Last matched price or lay price at expected off time would suffice if above proves too difficult.

Many thanks in advance.

Hi FlyByNight,

How do you know when the actual off, rather than the scheduled off, is going to be?

I think you've got two feasible choices. Firstly, accept Betfair SP — it's not perfect, and some worry about manipulation, but it is a starting price.

Otherwise, use Excel to trigger a bet x seconds before the scheduled off time. But be aware, the actual off time can be many seconds or even minutes after the scheduled race time, and on occasion up to an hour late if there's been a jockey injury or such like in a previous race.

Are you concerned about Betfair SP?

I'm sure there's sample code doing that somewhere on the site , basically it just continually copies the last matched price into a column as long as the market indicator is showing NOt In Play/suspended etc as soon as the market foes in play it's no longer recording so they're effectively timestamped.

Haven't time to look for it now but if you cant find it I'll stick up somme simple code later as I may have a copy on my PC

Just saw the sheet i put up is still there in thread

http://www.gruss-software.co.uk/forum/v ... f=5&t=8904

Think that copied last 10 prices and stored them on a separate sheet but could easily be tweaked for the last price only.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
