Betfair Sportsbook "mistakes"

Postby crocogotter » Tue Jul 12, 2016 7:15 pm

Not BA related so I understand if you want to delete this, but there isn't a section anywhere for Betfair stuff that isn't to do with BA.

Had a day off for a change today, finally managed to get BA up and running with a new spreadsheet curtesy of Osknows, and so I was placing a few minimum level forecasts and tricasts on the greyhounds through the Sportsbook to be able to watch the races. Each race I would place a reverse forecast, a straight tricast and a combination tricast. One race I had the winner and the other 2 dogs dead heated for 2nd, so I should have had something back on all 3 bets. However, Betfair only paid out the combination tricast (2 x half stake winners), but not the half stake forecast or half stake straight tricast.

With the small stakes involved I'm surprised I even noticed, but when I contacted Betfair it was "We do try our best to minimise as many errors as possible". I would have thought something like this should be nigh on impossible to happen; at best it's extremely suspect software, at worst, well, how many other times have they not paid out on winning bets and no-one has noticed?

I know most people here use the exchange, but just a heads up to be very wary and to carefully check any bets you place on the Sportsbook, as you might not get paid what you've won.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
