Pre Play Trading Volume vs BA's Total Amount Matched

Postby EdisonsMen » Mon May 15, 2017 1:45 pm

Hi Everyone,

I've recently been working on a bot to target a volume strategy I am interested in. I'm sure some people are aware of the following site:
http://www.betfairpromo.com/betfairsp/prices/

This listing of betfair results is incredibly helpful. In these csv files is a column called PPTRADEDVOL which is volume traded after 11am race day but before the race off. This column combined with MORNINGTRADEDVOL should correlate with Gruss's BA column "Total Amount Matched". At least that's what I am questioning.

Does anyone know if the PPTRADEDVOL includes wagers placed at Back BSP and Lay BSP? Essentially is money hiding in these wagers obscured from the "Total Amount Matched" BA column and if so how can I glean such information before the off?

Cheers,

Hey all, contacted betfair and close this one out. Seems that the PPTRADEDVOL value does not include wagers matched at BSP so that's nice to know. I guess that does beg the question where is that data stored???

Why not ask Betfair again? It makes sense the BSP volume shoudn't be included in any figures pre 11 as it hasn't been matched by then. Betfar also have a dat site at http://data.betfair.com/ that hold volumes for individual horses but is quite big.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
