setting stop loss in excel

Postby dflowe » Fri Feb 24, 2023 8:21 pm

Hi Garry, its been a while since my last confession. I have lost the will to live with stop loss.
I have a simple bet
BACK-PL10-SP
now this works fine till the odds jump past the tick offset bet and the ofset does not get matched...
So I have a matched back bet and an unmatched lay bet with the odds drifting out.
I want to stop the loss at 1/2 the original stake.
What stop loss do I add to the above statement SL50P ? if so it costs twice the stake so its not right.
any help would be appreciated
thanks Dave

You need your lay stop loss to be at twice your back odds for half the stake to lose half your back stake whatever the result.

SLFn-L will set it at odds of n.

Your problem is going to be that you're backing at SP so you don't know the back odds you're matched at until after your trigger has fired.

So you probably need to use SLnP-L where n is the percentage of your back odds but how it works is dependent on the Calculate tick% setting in Preferences/General.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
