BA Memory

Postby gaspare.vigliani » Sat Aug 19, 2023 4:35 pm

Good evening. I'd be curious to know why the Betting Assistant takes up so much memory. The new version is giving me a lot of problems. What is the latest stable and non self-updating version?
Thank you

That's not a particularly high memory usage for a .Net Windows Forms application. .Net reclaims memory periodically so sometimes the memory usage increases for a while and then suddenly drops as the garbage collector kicks in. Betting Assistant's base memory usage immediately after starting the application and opening a market is around 150mb.

You could change the option in general preferences which sets how many hours of prices it should record. If you are not using the charts then you could change it to 0 and it will use less memory.

The latest version is 1.3.2.6: viewtopic.php?f=9&t=11317
This version will auto update. If you want to prevent auto updates then create a shortcut to C:\Program Files (x86)\Betting Assistant\Betting Assistant.exe and use that to launch Betting Assistant.

What are these problems? Please report them individually so I can deal with them one by one.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
