What currency are you betting in? They did reduce the minimum bet for Australian dollars from 6 to 5 so you need the latest version to support this.

You can download the latest version from http://www.gruss-software.co.uk/Betting ... t_Beta.msi

Note that your required balance will be $5 + stake, eg. to back $0.40 balance required is $5.40. For multiple bets triggered at the same time you need to add them together, eg. 2 x $0.40 bets will required a balance of $10.80

Are you trying to place multiple bets at the same time? See my previous message.

So even though i don't intend to place a bet of more than 10c i would still need a balance of $5.10 for each bet, so if the three bets are placed at the same time for amounts 10c 10c 20c i need a balance of 15.40 in the account for it to work.

That's right, it's because of the way the "cheat" works. Multiple bets are sent in the same request because it is more efficient especially when betting in play as each request incurs the delay imposed by Befair. For example with a 5 second delay a below minimum bet takes 15 seconds to place as there are 3 transactions involved. 3 bets would also take 15 seconds, but if they were to be placed in separate requests it would take 45 seconds. The initial request is to back each selection $5 at 1000 which is where the $15 comes in.

Thanks for that, i never thought about it before, i must have always had enough in the account when testing in the past but as a safety break i limited the account this time so i could leave the bot running for tests.

I will remember this in future to have $5+ for each multiple selection i wish to place a bet on.

Gary, could you explain this a bit more - re 'the cheat' via multiple bets please. I know the procedure is:-

1) Place minimum bet £2 @ lay (1.01) or Back (1000) Something so it won't get matched

2) Adjust stake on Bet to say £2.20

3) This creates 2 bets, a £2 bet and a 20p bet

4) Cancel £2 leaving 20p bet

5) adjust odds on 20p bet to those required.

Translating this into a vba sub is going to involve some trigger commands i am not familar with. Also puzzled as to what to do with bet reference - do i have to re-insert the one created at (1) for (4)

cheers

BA does it for you - you don't have to worry about it

Hello PeteB,

Do you mean BA sorts out the appropriate bet reference ? So , i just have vba run down the list - something like - assuming i was intent on BACKing 20p at odds of 5.2

(1) BACK stake= 2 , odds=1000 , : wait for bet ref

(2) BACK stake= 2.2 , odds=1000, : wait for bet ref

(4) CANCEL

(5) BACKR stake= 0.2 , odds= 5.2

Further to this - all i need to do is "Clear" the bet references as they occur ( before going to the next item down the list ) - with either the "CLEAR" command or using vba.

??????????

Fixador

BA handles all of this procedure.

The process is simple in excel place the odds required into column R ie 5.2 ,place the stake required into column S ie 0.20.

BA will place the necessary bets and cancel/adjust odds etc leaving you with the bet you asked for and the bet ref for this bet.

No VBA is needed

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
