data usage

Postby Dmite036 » Mon May 18, 2009 11:30 am

Just a quick one. I'm slightly concerned about exceeding my internet data limit using gruss for triggered betting in excel.

I'm only loading markets a minute before the off (auto market load) and my refresh rate is 10 seconds.

I was wondering if BA still refreshes even thought it might be 'between' races where there could be a 5-10+ minute gap depending where you are betting.

I have a monthly 20gig limit.

Yes it does, but you can control the refresh rate from Excel.

Enter the required refresh rate in cell Q2. You could have a formula or macro change the refresh rate between races.

Thanks.

I've been searching for another answer but i'm a bit lost.

What do i type in to Q2 if i only want refreshes to occur 1 minute before my quick list races, then cease once those have ended?

I basically only need refreshes when my selected races are about to start. Everything in between is a waste.

There isn't an option to stop refreshing altogether. You must specify a refresh rate. The best you can do is reduce the number of refreshes. You also have to consider that the refresh rate is only checked on each refresh so if you specify a rate that is too long you could miss the start of the race altogether.

I'll put it down as a suggestion to have the option to only refresh prices a certain number of minutes before a race. This will benefit the API in general as it will reduce the load on the server.

Thank you Gary that would be a worthy inclusion for my methods.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
