Just looked at my diary and see that between 17th Jan and about 11th Feb last year we had similar problems with the API....

Ian, I tried 6 or 7 times to log in before the off and even closed the browser and opened a new one. Finally after the off I was able to log in to see that I had matched bet. I then attempted to reduce the largest liability but twice the bet failed to go through. I then checked my internet connection and no problem.

There is a logical reason for Betfair going down ......... after weeks of running Betfair Trader to test scenarios, I paid a monthly subscription yesterday to use Betfair Assistant and run the scenarios in 'anger'.!!

I believe it is working again but would recommend proceeding with caution

I wonder if the introduction of Betfair's virtual horse racing and the recent API problems are just coincidence? Maybe Betfair should concentrate a bit less on such rubbish, and a little more on making sure that their core product is working properly. The arrogance and complacency they have been exhibiting lately make me feel that a tipping point is about to be reached at which people will move to Betdaq.

The days when it was touch and go whether Betfair or Flutter would come out on top are long gone, and I don't think it would do any harm at all for Betfair to start receiving some sharp reminders not to take their monopoly for granted!

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
