Betfair Website unavailable on Monday 31st January

Postby MarkRussell » Wed Jan 26, 2011 8:56 am

Betfair have made the following announcement:-

Please be aware that due to planned site maintenance and upgrade work, all Betfair products will be unavailable from:

00:01 GMT on Monday 31st January

This planned work is expected to last for several hours. During this time Betfair.com, including our sports exchange, casino, arcade, poker, API and mobile products, will be unavailable.

We have planned this work around the end of key sporting events on Sunday 30th January and with the aim of having the Exchange back up and running in time for the start of UK Horseracing on the afternoon of Monday 31st January (GMT). Please be aware, that while we will be doing our best to have the sports exchange operational again on Monday afternoon, it is anticipated that all other products such as poker, casino and arcade will continue to be unavailable until later on that day.

The upgrade work is being undertaken to bring long-term benefits to our customers and we will be working hard to get normal service resumed on the site as quickly as possible.

We’d like to apologise in advance for any inconvenience caused.

If you have any questions then please email our Helpdesk at info@betfair.com.

Hi Mark,

Betfair site is back up but BA seems to be having some problems with auto loading of Australian markets?

Regards

It looks they haven't started the Australian API server yet. You can open preferences, and untick "Include Australian markets" in the quick pick preferences tab. It will then continue to work without the Australian markets.

It's not BA that is the problem, it's the API returning old prices intermittently. See http://gruss-software.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5767

Your PC cannot find the API server, probably caused by the downtime. This is beyond our control. You could try rebooting your PC and router.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
