Trader247 blog

Postby Daywalker » Mon Oct 24, 2016 7:08 am

I mentioned my blog in reply to another post and have seen increased interest since, so I thought I'd start my own thread to let you know when I add anything new.

Here's a link to my latest post -

I only do automated trading and have been blogging for over a year now. Questions and comments are always welcome and can be made here, on the blog or via Twitter.

Good luck with the blog, it's a thankless task blogging as all people generally want is some free and effortless ride to riches off your thousands of hours of trying.

Hi Captain. Yes there are those hoping for a quick ticket to riches. From writing the blog I have found people are ready to offer me advice with coding and working around errors, which is useful. I also find the blog helps me keep track of what I'm doing, I easily get distracted.

I think I'm just naturally a bit of an old cynic these days :)

Those charts don't seem to have many data points throughout the month, do they churn over a lot of bets or just the odd two or three a day?

1 to 3 bets per day is normal. This particular bot came from a project to collect data from Betdaq. As i hadn't used the exchange for a while, I added some code to fire some bets in, with the purpose of keeping the unfair usage monkeys off my back. I've kept the bot going as much for my own interest as anything else, it's only low stakes. My main bot, Oscar, is churning bets at a high rate.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
