Exotics appearing in win quick pick lists

Postby andrewl2 » Sun Dec 03, 2017 8:05 am

Hi all

I trigger bets from Excel, using BA's quick pick lists to auto-select horse racing markets. This has worked fine for years, but recently some 'exotic' markets such as 'forecasts' and 'without favourites' have been appearing in the lists and have often loaded in place of the corresponding win market.

I imagine these exotics have been allocated a win market code by Betfair in error? Wondering if this has affected any other users, whether it's been reported to Betfair and if the cause is known?

Thanks

Thanks, Mark.

Are you able to say what the cause of the problem was and how the new version fixes it? Betfair seems to have a similar problem with the daily price files it publishes and it would be nice to have a little understanding of the issue.

Thanks

Andrew

Hi,

Betfair introduced these new markets and the software read them as being Win markets because of the way the software was filtering them into the Quick Pick List only previously excluding those that it knew were not Win markets.
Gary has now found a better way of filtering the Win markets which means this problem should not happen in the future.

Regards,
Mark

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
