SSL Certificate?

Postby wizardofmann » Sun Feb 09, 2014 11:13 am

I happened to notice that in my accounts page on the Betfair site, at the bottom of the security page, it states I have not as yet uploaded a 'SSL Certificate.'

It states: To give an automated betting program, or 'bot', access to your account you need to create and upload a certificate.
You can upload up to 3 certificates.

(Link) 'Understanding secure API access'

'No SSL Certificate uploaded'

I had a look at 'Understanding secure API access' and I am afraid it lost me by the end of the first sentence! Do I need to upload a SSL Certificate and if so please could someone be kind enough to talk me through it in laymans terms.

You only need to upload a certificate to get access to the new API-NG for testing etc. Gruss uses API6 rather than API-NG so there's no need whatsoever for you to do anything.

API-NG is due to go live sometime in November I think , by then I'd imagine Betfair will have sorted it out to be applied automatically otherwise they'll have plenty of disgruntled customers all ringing up for help :)

Captain or Gary
does the new api NG happen to have any advantages compared the API6 we are using, such as faster odds feed, or faster bet placement, or betting odds more reliable (without the cross matching formula)

Hi,

Please see http://bdp.betfair.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=287&Itemid=1 which outlines the key benefits of API-NG

API6 is being retired on 1-Nov-2014, so between now and then we will be converting Betting Assistant to use API-NG

Regards,
Mark

Hi Mark!
I had seen this post already
Without being sure I think it will be faster but I am not a developer.
We have noticed the last few months that refresh times are slower than before and that is why I am wondering if this has to do with it

When do you believe you are going to implement this change to BA?
Have you got any tests, that proves that API-NG is faster or not?

Thanks
although the link isn't working, I almost certain now the new api-ng is faster and more efficient. I would like to know something more specific as to when we could test the converted version of BA but no answer yet from Gary

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
