Is it possible ???

Postby Don K Jackett » Wed Jan 30, 2008 12:30 am

Hi chaps,

What I'm looking to do in the EXCEL triggered betting is to lay a selection once the market goes in play which is triggered when it's price drifts to a certain mark. I then want to remove the matched bet info and immediately want to send a back bet in x amount of ticks higher thus trading out my position.

I know the first part of my question is possible (sending the initial lay bet through) using simple "IF" statements but is the whole scenario possible using basic formulae or will it take some macro ?

Only reason I ask is that if it does require macros I last wrote basic EXCEL macro's a good 10-12 years ago have forgotten just about everything and am a newbie when it comes to VB.

I can get most of the knowledge back with putting my head in a few books for a few weeks but I wanted to know a) if it is possible at all and b) is there an easier solution other than writing a macro for it, i.e. formulae?

Any adice no matter how small would be appreciated.

Cheers

Don

This should be perfectly possible without having to dive into a macro.

Check out the help file and look at the commands that you can issue from Excel.

The LAY-Tx and LAY-Tx-Fx commands would appear to do what you want. The rest can be set up through formulae.

Just one more query please chaps.

If I have ticked the Override Odds & the Auto Level boxes in BA will that carry over to the EXCEL triggered betting ?

I'm placing bets using "BACK-T5-F3" trigger but it would be handy if the lay bet would alter the stake to auto level the proifit, rather than sending the same stake as the back bet. Also by overiding the odds there's more chance of getting the bet matched as I'm setting a trigger to odds that could only be possible for the selection in play.

Any views would be appreciated.

Cheers

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
