Web Scrapping Programmer Required

Postby methodman » Sun Feb 08, 2009 4:53 pm

I would like an Excel worksheet to collect price info from Oddschecker and return it to a worksheet. If anybody can help with this or would like to give me a price it would be much appreciated.

I've used a Web Query Data Import with bestbetting.com before without a problem. Very easy to do.

Doris Day - it may be easy for you but I haven't got a clue. Had a look at the excel web query but it just returns a load of unformatted data and as far as I can work out it doesn't contain the odds only references to the various 3rd party sites that supply it.

So if anybody can give any usefull help it will be much appreciated.

If you are taking about horse racing odds from Bestbetting. they start around row 200. The horse's name is in col H with the odds in the adjacent columns. You are best to select the decimal option before importing.

Not column H, column F, if you've imported into A1.

Don't know if you have time/want to learn but the sample spread sheet in the sample files bit

has taught me alot about scraping data.

Also check out The Puners Lounge General Betting Tools, and look for a thread about Getting RP Data.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
