Laying below minimum stakes

Postby MarkRussell » Fri Jun 19, 2020 4:04 pm

Hi,

Please be aware that Betfair have changed something in their system which is preventing the software from being able to place a lay bet using below minimum stakes.

If you try to place the bet you will be matched at minimum stake, e.g. at £2 for UK.

The problem is not affecting back bets.

We have raised an urgent query with Betfair and are awaiting their reply.

Regards,
Mark

Thanks Mark,

I can tell you that the problem first occured for me around 14:10 today.

I was fortunate to have withdrawn several hundred pounds earlier as I would have been exposed to to major liabilities.

I have closed down BA as for the moment it is unworkable.

Its not just Lay bets when using COM interface. It is all bets. From around 1400 hours. Seems to only be affecting some users. Error message is CANCELLED_NOT_PLACED.

This has been happening to me also..normally it would lay my minimum of 5 AUD at 1.01 then cancel say 4.90 of it assuming i had asked it to lay at 1000 for a liability of 100.

So it would lay only the 10c.the 5.00 is not cancelling at all and the program lays the full 5.00 at 1000/1

This did get me for around $1000 on the 2nd of this month.

The race was right on going in play.I was laying apparent rubbish in the race at 200/1 for a liability of $100.

I dont know what happened but the race jumped and i seen i was down 1300 on the horse, I tried to back it back at reasonable odds and i got a dollar or so back on it and of
course it was into 50s or something.Naturally i let it run against me and of course it was now a certainty...I watched it firm to 1-1 the 1-2 and of course 1.01.

Needless to say i was quite pizzed off with what happened

Ive got all the logs here for what its worth

This was an intentional API update. Really bad form. I hope they roll it back.

This has fecked me up. Just watched my bit try to green below £2, actually around 30p, and for matched at £2. That's me out until/if it gets sorted.

Just had a look into this and I can see you can place bets below the minimum value through the betfair website using the following criteria.

For example lay £2 @ 1.01 can adjust bet to £2.80, £2.79 rejected.
lay £2 @ 1.02 can adjust bet to £2.40, £2.39 rejected.
Lay £2 @ 1.04 can adjust bet to £2.20 £2.19 rejected

The criteria seems to be whatever odds you lay £2 at, the minimum amount you can adjust the bet to seems to require a £0.008 liability so at 1.07 (0.008/.07) means you can adjust the bet to £2.12 but £2.11 would be rejected.
Don't know if this could be implemented into gruss as a possible work around or not? Obviously not perfect but at least better than having £2 bets fired in as is the case now. Would help me massively anyway.

I have released an update. See viewtopic.php?f=9&t=10615

This does mean that the first lay bet will be higher than 1.01 in some cases eg. £0.50 @ 1.1 requires an initial lay bet of £2 @ 1.02

This hasn't COM interface when backing at odds of 1.01. Minimum stake is now 80p to get through otherwise the bets are still rejected.

I try to make a back bet of € 0.50 and it is rejected. The "cancelled not place" message appears. The market is that of greyhounds. can someone help me? thanks.

Can you please give more information? Does it show version number 1.3.0.45c on the screen? What stake and odds are you using and what results do you get? Also what is your account currency?

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
