API issues 13th February 2013

Postby GaryRussell » Wed Feb 13, 2013 9:49 pm

Unfortunately Betfair have had issues with their API today and rather frustratingly although they appear to have resolved the issues they have not fixed the issue with the getAllMarkets call which Betting Assistant relies on to load the markets. This call is not necessarily used by the other vendors which is why you may get the impression that this is a fault in Betting Assistant.

We have released an update to ignore the faulty data and will take this issue up with Betfair.

If you are not using the Beta version then next time you open the software it should auto update to version 1.1.0.65z9c. If it does not update then please uninstall and re-install from www.gruss-software.co.uk/Betting_Assist ... istant.msi

If you are using the Beta version (any version above 1.1.0.65) then please uninstall and re-install from the link below.

http://www.gruss-software.co.uk/Betting ... _Beta2.msi

If you are not experiencing problems then the problem has probably already been resolved and you do not need an update.

If it’s any help,
I’ve been logged in all day and at Around 6:00pm tonight the API started playing up, returning old data, freezing etc, Betfair confirmed the issue on twitter and it was resolved by around 8:00pm and has been fine since.

Obviously I have not had to log in so haven’t had the fetching markets problem, but it probably was a blessing in disguise for those that did as it was unusable anyway.

Hi,
I'm running BA on a shared server and for some reason the updater won't work and I can't find it in the uninstall a program list in control panel.
Can I just install the new version without a previous uninstal?

Cheers,
Kiint

Couldn't restart this morning because of this - downloaded Beta2 and BA now starts OK. But my code still hangs - guess it is the call to GetSports(). Is there a fix for that as well?

version 65z9c

Something is wrong
1. lost all my profiles
2. the shortcut that was created on the desktop is the old one -with blue and purple dots , not the green one.
3. Under "log multiple sheets quick link","auto select minutes before off" I can only specify whole minutes (1,2,3,4..) and not decimals (ie 2.3) .This is a feature of an older version.

Most important, something with com is not right.
I get excel-vba error at line:
ba.getmarketdepth false

and the error:
wrong number of arguments or invalid property assignment
com server is enabled in this new BA install

everything was ok yesterday

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
