Betfair Trader Tool (ver 1.1)

Postby tranmerekev » Fri Oct 31, 2008 4:10 pm

Anyone ever come across this?

http://www.ukhorseracing.co.uk/tools/Be ... rGuide.asp

Its exactly what I need but it no longer works. I've emailed the address but the fella can't help as he hasn't used it for several years.

Basically I'm useless with Excel, and this simple spreadsheet is ideal for what I want to do. (ie: lay certain horses at certain times within a certain price range)

Does anyone know how to get it working?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Kevin. I am a UKHR member, but never saw this!

Firstly, the user guide is based on a very old version of Betting Assistant, but the instructions are basically still true, it just won't look much like that now. Read the BA help pages, especially the Using Excel section.

Now the spreadsheet is set up for laying horses. The names of the horses to lay are entered into column A of the Horses worksheet. The maximum odds to lay at is in cell F1, and the minimum field is in cell F2.

The "laying" sheet is the sheet used to get prices from BA. The formulas are in columns N, O and P. N isues a LAY order to BA if the horse is found in the Horses sheet, and all the conditions are met. These include checking the odds, and the field size, and the order will be issued from the time the race is loaded until the race is suspended before going in-running. The stake is calculated in columns Y and Z. It uses a fixed liability of £100, but the stake is rounded up.

What is not working? It all looks OK to me.

looks like it was written for an old version of betting assistant. Since then new columns have been added in N,O and P. Just take the original sheet and insert 3 new columns starting at N.

i.e. open up the sheet click the mouse on the column N to select it all then right click the mouse and choose insert and it'll push the columns along by one, do it three times so that the column that says Trigger is now aligned in column Q. Save the file and link it to betting assistant and hopefully it should now be OK

Top work lads. Very much appreciated. I'm going to give it a go on tonights racing for small stakes to see if it works.

Once again many thanks.

Ah, I see the problem. Things have moved on, and formulas should now be in columns Q, R and S. I think it would be easier to start from scratch. I'm sorry to have raised your hopes on this, because I can't really help you further. I can't even test anything at the moment because my BA membership has lapsed.

Suggest you post in the Find an Excel developer forum on here, and someone may point you to sample spreadsheets.

Ah, I see Captain Sensible has come to the rescue, which is great. I wasn't very sure that just moving the formulas would sort things, but if it does, his solution is great!

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
