Downloading Betfair SPs

Postby Ted Brogan » Wed Jan 28, 2009 8:51 am

Is there a way to download all the histoircal BF SP's all at once rather than by clicking hundreds of files individually? Maybe some sort of VBA code? (I'm a complete newbie at that sort of thing though). I basically just want all available GB win data (There are about 280 files I think looking at the site).

Thanks
Ted.

Hi Ted,

Use Firefox and install this addon.

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/201

Then navigate to the Betfair SP site and goto the page with all the 280 files etc. Then use the DownLoadThemAll addon to download the files.

If you only want GB then you can use the filter function to filter out only the files you want.

Hope this helps.

On excel 2007 you can click on data and then import a text file to the same sheet. I am sure you can do the same thing on older versions as well

You could concatenate the files into one file and import that.

Create a file named concat.bat in the same folder as the csv files (you can use notepad) containing the copy command to concatenate the files. Run this file by double clicking it.

Code: Select all
copy /b file1.csv+file2.csv file3.csv

In the above example file1.csv and file2.csv will be combined to create file3.csv

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
