Keeps backing everything @ 1000!

Postby jc0r » Mon Sep 21, 2009 2:11 am

Anyone else get this problem. Ive got some trigger betting scenarios in excel, some more complicated than others. Anyway, the other day i left it running and disaster struck while i was out and i ended up losing a fair bit :s Im now trying to find out what went wrong. Looking through my Betfair statement of lapsed bets i can see Excel has tried to fire, literally 100's of bets on every horse in a race at 1000 to £2 stakes. I guarantee this is not possible in my script. Any help please as this is driving me round the twist

hi
probably there is a problem with your stakes
are you trying stakes below the minimum ? sometimes I have noticed if you that there is a problem if you write that number in excel with the wrong format 0,5 or 0.5 for example & in some other cases if you place the bet at Invalid Increment I think it can also happen.

The program does not randomly fire bets. It will only place bets that you have triggered. You need to be aware that when you place a bet below minimum stake the program has to "cheat" to place the bet as it is not supported by the API. It will place a back bet for £2 @ 1000, update the stake to £2 plus your required stake, cancel the £2 bet leaving your required stake @ 1000 then update the odds to your require odds. If someone is offering to lay 1000 at the time then the initial £2 bet will get matched, you should avoid placing below minimum bets if the odds are close to 1000.

Every back bet below minimum is going to show a cancelled bet of £2 @ 1000 in your betting history.

Thanks for your responses guys. As it turns out you were right however the exact cause for me is when the excel stake column = the error #DIV/0! this causes Gruss to fire in a bet of £2 @ 1000

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
