What is the smallest computer/PDA about that can support BA?

Postby one click king » Fri Aug 07, 2009 1:05 pm

Hi

I have some clever ideas floating in my head, so was just wondering if anyone can tell me the smallest computer/PDA that BA will work on.

It does involve possible on-course betting.

It would be preferable if you actually use BA on it already.

I think it must be a Netbook as it will need to run Windows, it will not work on Windows mobile. See http://gruss-software.co.uk/forum/viewt ... ht=netbook

BA works fine on a Netbook using XP. The only problem to consider is whether you will get enough runners on the screen for what you want to do eg. if you need to have the betting options and bet manager open, you will probably only be able to see the first three of four in the betting without scrolling because of the size of the screen.

Hi Ian

Do you have it running on a Netbook?

Yes, Advent 4213. The Tmobile sim card is embedded inside the netbook so you don't need to use a dongle.

Hi Ian

I had a look at that online and it looks decent. Do you know if there are any out there that use wands/touch screen technology?

Question for anyone who logs to Excel on a netbook with 1.6Ghz Atom N270/280 and calculates actual refresh times - Does anyone achieve an actual refresh rate of (for example) 200ms or less on such a machine? I appreciate that there will be circumstances in which the netbook's processing power will not be the limiting factor, but presuming internet connection and API are favourable, can these machines perform well?

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
