click

Postby alan » Fri Oct 09, 2009 5:46 pm

I want to put a sliding stop loss trigger in. This is a stupid question, but what exactly is a 'click'. For instance, if I want a trigger that LAYs at 2.02 then BACK at 1.5, how many clicks for my SL parameter?

Thanks,

Alan

I think you actually mean 'tick' rather than 'click' which refers to the steps between bet and/or lay values. For instance, between 1.01 and 2.00 the 'tick' value is 0.01, so prices step up by that amount i.e 1.31,1.32,1.33 etc.

You need to work out how many ticks you want your offset bet to be set at, or decide to have your offset at a static price, or have it as a percentage of your bet price. Once you've decided which of those possibilities you'd like to use, post again and someone will explain how to set it up.

I've just answered this an another thread and asked you a question, but you have now answered the question so here it is.

A tick is a price increment. See http://help.betfair.com/contents/itemId ... ex.en.html for the list of acceptable odds to Betfair.

Say you were manually entering a bet, you would need to click the down arrow 51 times to get down to 1.5 therefore it is 51 ticks lower.

The stop loss trigger is LAY-SL51-SL

You should be aware that a bug was fixed affecting level loss is in version 1.1.0.62 so you need to upgrade to the Beta version before trying this.
See http://gruss-software.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3922 for the download link.

Stop Loss on LAY

Postby alan » Sat Oct 10, 2009 6:40 pm

I guess what I am looking for is when I LAY a horse at 2.02, can I put a Stop Loss if the horse looks like winning (say the odds come in to 1.10 for example). Thus mitgating my loss.

Sorry this is posted in Help as well.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
