Triggered betting thru Excel - Backing at SP

Postby Norwegian Would » Tue Nov 10, 2009 8:14 pm

I wish to back a single selection in the horse racing Win Market using Betfair SP.

I am using the Sample Triggered SS - Place bets on a selection of horses SS that Gary has posted.

If I understand this correctly I should enter BACK-SP in the selections Worksheet / Tab. This should then place the Back Bet on the selection.

The issue is that if I am not sure of what to enter in the Min / Max odds as I only want a Back bet placed at SP .

I have found the trigger LAY_SP...
would submit a lay bet which if not matched when the market turns 'in play' would not be cancelled and the odds converted to Betfair SP providing your liability is at least 10 GBP. Betfair adjust your stake so that the liability remains the same as when you intitially submitted the bet.
-------------- but not BACK SP

Can any of you good peeps point my nose in the right direction?

Appreciated

Is there any criteria that must be satisfied before you place the back bet? I'm just trying to understand why automation is needed because if you have a list of selections to back at SP you could just place them manually at the start of the day and forget about them.

The BACK-SP trigger will place at SP if not matched before the market goes in play. The problem with this spreadsheet is it designed to place bets at currently available odds if the current odds match a certain criteria. It will also need to be modified to request higher odds, say 900 to avoid the bet being matched immediately.

Lol - The main criteria is that the Boss can't see me placing bets at work ! :D

The data is "pulled" automatically from 2 well known abused nag sites RP / SL and placed in a XL WorkBook.

The data/ Horse Name is then filtered according to pre-set criteria in a RANGE in a WorkSheet which is "Fed" into your worksheet Selections Column A.

Betting Assistant is running minimised and in the "blink of an eye" the selections in column A tell me which nags is going to have my Two Inglish Quiddies riding on it.

The issue is that I don't care if the SP is 1.5 or 999's - it will still have my hard-earned beer-tokens placed on it.

If I place bets thru' the BA interface - all and sundry in the office see what I am doing and that I am a compulsive gambler (LOL).

I need to do it thru a SS - or is there an easier way. I don't want to nip off to the bogs with my mobile in the lunch hour.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

just stick the odds in as 1000 like Gary suggests, the bet will just sit in the market with no chance of being matched until BSP reconciliation when it'll be matched at BSP

If your BACKING use 1000
If your LAYING use 1.01

You don't want to mix the two up

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
