My experience is to keep well away from Vista. Personally I think XP is still better than both and is known to be very stable.
I bought a laptop for my wife and immediately installed XP over the pre-installed Vista.

I skipped "Vista" and changed over to "WIN 7" from "XP".

It is lot faster than "XP" and has been very stable.

No problems at all.

If you are unsure that existing hardware, software, etc will work then, you can download the following from Microsoft:-

Good to hear you're finding W7 to be OK.

I have loads of stuff I don't have the original install files for, so I'll have to keep with XP for my main PC.

I especially liked that "Windows Media Centre" was in the package.

I treated myself to a new "Hauppauge PCi TV card" which works a treat with the software!

What Hauppage need to introduce is a 'live horse racing TV card'. I'd certainly upgrade then :)

With "Windows Media Centre" you can now have a facility to subscribe to SKY - which, I presume means you can get a package with both racing channels thrown in. (Programmes are transmitted by live stream so no dish required!)

Not "SIS" speeds though.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
