If you reorder the grid, excel is unaffected, see below from the help file:

The sort oder dropdown box allows you to re-order the selections in the grid.

The default option is 'Not Sorted' meaning that the selections will be in the same order as if you were viewing the market on the Betfair website.

The sort options are back and lay prices being the best prices on offer, selection name, and saddlecloth number (applicable to horse racing only).

Please be aware that if you have the grid sorted on back or lay prices then this order will be maintained meaning that if for example you were sorting on back prices and the 2nd favourite becomes the favourite then the grid will automatically be re-sorted to show this.

Also note that when you change markets the sort option is remembered.

If you have a market linked into Excel then sorting the grid has no effect on the order that is displayed in your Excel sheet.

Thank you...
... another question a usual, thatnk you for all your time and help...!

I am trying to write a excel formula around the time on the clock….
Trying to stop any betting after a certain time….
I placed the following formula in the cell above the clock:
=IF(D2 >0,1,2)

This seems to work as a formula but I unable to test it if works when the Clock crosses from 00:00:01 to 00:00:00 because as soon as it fires and the number 1 or 2 appears in the cell it delets the formula in the cell and then disappears!!!!

Do you know how I can stop this happening….. how I can always have a 1 or 2 present in the cell depending on the time on the clock?

BA could be overwriting the cell, where do you have the formula? Try moving it to say, Z1.

I think you'll find also that when the time goes negative your formula wont work. Probably best to just check whether the time is negative with:

=IF(LEFT(D2,1)="-",2,1)

Thank you for that Graham... genius!

Do you know genallu how long is takes a horse to run a race - I am basically looking for a time between when the race goes 'In Play' to when it goes 'Suspended'?
I appreciate that this depends on many factors from the length of the race to the 'going' to quality of fields etc...... but I am looking for general figure....
From what I can see 1 mile is about the longest that is run in the UK generally... is this right? But in the US there are frequently 2-2.5 mile races in the us..... can you help?

Also is it possible to 'close out my automated offset bet before the race starts? For example a fire a back bet into market it is mathed and a offset ley bet is fired into the market.... it isn't matched is it possible to fire another lay bet into market at what ever the price is at that time to to cover the back bet already in the market... I hope this makes sense....!!!!!

No, flat races are generally shorter, but NH are longer, the grand national for example is 4 and a half miles i think.

Yes, you could, at a certain point ,cancel all unmatched bets and use Gary's Green-Up sheet to close all positions. There may be other ways, but this is the first which comes to mind

Hi Graham
Thank you for the advice.....
I am trying to use Garys GreenUp sheet but even if I place the simplest bet, such as 'BACK' I just get an error in the the betref and no bet is placed.....? Do you have any idea what I might be doing wrong?
I do remember that when I initially saved it I was having problems with entering passwords etc... but it eventually let me.... not sure if this is the problem?????

i haven't really used that sheet often, but i believe that they are meant to be advisory. you can then conditionally use them to populate the relevant cells.
By that, I mean that you can use, for example the greened up p and l as the criteria of whether or not to to place the green up bets, and the green up stake and odds to populate columns r and s. I hope that makes sense.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
