Thank you Betfair but goodnight

Postby doris_day » Tue Oct 25, 2011 2:32 pm

I've found the in-running horse race markets now so weak and combined with the destructive cross-matching bot and PC all my algos are returning very poor profits.

I have other, more profitable ways of making money, so I shall persue these.

It was great while it lasted and I made quite a lot of money during the five years or so running my algorithms but its now over for the forseeable future.

I shall keep my Gruss subscription and see whats going on every now and again but I think its unlikely things will ever return to the heydays.

Betfair have become so greedy and hate winners so much they're doing everything in their powers to keep anything available for themselves.
If you're still able to make it pay at a decent level then you're doing very well. Just watch your backs because Betfair will be coming after you. At some stage someone will write a book about what goes on inside Betfair and it will make interesting reading I can promise you.

Best of luck everyone and have fun. Cheerio......

Good Luck Doris - whatever you turn your hand to?

The dogs ain't what they used to be either - but still profitable enough for
me to keep trying for now. Know what you mean about Betfair's attitude
and greed only too well!

Au revoir - all the best - Michael

.
Doris, I hope that you drop in from time to time to let us know how you're getting on in your greener pastures (financial trading, or similar?)

I've picked up more than a few helpful snippets from your numerous posts, and they've certainly helped me on the road to being a (slightly) profitable recreational exchange bettor using Gruss.

I'll never make it to 40% PC land — those are the sort of problems I'd like to have — but being one of the small minority of exchange users showing a lifetime profit, albeit a relatively modest one, at least help to keep morale up during the difficult spells.

Best wishes for your other activities, and good luck.
.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
