Simple Newbie Question

Postby Monty » Fri Jun 01, 2012 11:59 am

I have signed up to Gruss with a view to doing some simple trading.

I understand the Tick offset box, Ticks=% box and Auto Level box but what boxes do I need to tick please to set the back bet at BSP and then to trade the lay at, for example, 50% of that price which I need to do as I need to set up my daily trades well before racing?

Thank you - told you it was a simple question!

Here is a video showing what you need to do.

Note that I open a new tab for each market. You have to leave the markets open so that it can monitor the bets being matched and place the offsets. If you set it up on one tab and changed to the next market etc. it would not work.

Thank you for your prompt and very helpful reply.

That looks very straightforward and I'll give it a try tomorrow.

Hi Gary

Circumstances have prevented me from trying this out in the last couple of days but I've just tried implementing the instructions from the video and I haven't done something quite right to achieve what I intended.

I placed a bet on Lily In Pink in the 2.40 at Chepstow at SP which worked fine and ticked a 50% offset. The in-running lay price worked fine but only for the same value as the bet whereas I had intended the lay bet to be for twice the value of the back bet. What do I have to do to make that happen please? I'm not complaining as Lily In Pink won but I'd like to know for the future please.

Thanks.

1. Open preferences from the options menu, select the general tab and tick "Calculate tick % on decimal odds"

2. When entering the tick offset settings you also need to tick "Auto level".

Unless I am mistaken when you make any changes to the profile you are
using and then exit BA that particular profile will be the same as when you
last used it? i.e. load BA with profileA - make changes and exit. ProfileA will
be the same as your last use of it. Therefore no need to actually save "my
profile". Hope this makes some sense to you? Unless I misunderstand you?

All the best - Michael

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
