Ladbrokes confirms Betdaq acquisition

Discuss anything related to using the program (eg. triggered betting tactics)

No sure what to think of this news tbh,
on one hand it may give Betfair a much needed kick up the A***.

But on the other Ladbrokes is not a place where winners are welcome by any stretch of the imagination, so how long until they start banning / restricting winners.

Hmm, should be interesting.
If it stays as a pure exchange, then I doubt that Ladbrokes will start banning winners, and if they did, then they would soon have to be providing the liquidity themselves.
However, if they do start to inject a bit of cash into the markets, then we may start to see Betdaq becoming a more creditable alternative.

As you may be aware, Betfair suffered a site outage this afternoon, for which we unreservedly apologise.

To acknowledge that we failed to deliver an acceptable standard of service to our customers, and by way of an apology to them, we would like to announce the following:

-We will be refunding all commission on UK football matches today.

-All races will be commission-free at Cheltenham on Tuesday.

Once again, we would like to take this opportunity to apologise for today's outage.

well this is better for a start :D

Comm free is just lip service and a cheap way for them to look as if they're doing you a favour whilst hoping you'll up the stakes as it's 'comm free'. PC payers will still end up paying on Wednesday. Just how many UK football matches are being played today? And only 7 races on Tuesday comm free is hardly compensation for anyone who lost out, anyone not picking a winner won't even have a chance of benefiting.

As you correctly say, it is a rather pathetic gesture seeing that over 95% of the UK Football matches that they are offering compensation on, took place at 3pm on Saturday, exactly when the outage took place.

Also the fact that they are giving money back to the people who actually WON on these matches, surely it makes more sense to compensate the people who LOST? i.e. The people who could not trade out their positions......

Whether it’s a pathetic gesture or not wasn’t the point I was making really.
There is no gesture that would please everyone anyway, other than never let the site crash which is lets be honest a pipe dream.
My point was for the first time there was a gesture at least.

For years and years they have done nothing in circumstances like this and generally treated there customers like dirt, you can afford to do that when you have a near monopoly, but maybe now they are beginning to realise the error of their ways.

All of a sudden their customer service has improved,
Myself and many others have had the first phone calls from them in years and years, they apologise for things when they have cocked,
it all does point to a slight change in attitude.

Coincidence ?, Maybe maybe not,
I don't really care tbh, but the more Pressure applied to them the more, they will start having to treat people fairly and with more respect.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
