Absolutely yes

Example’s for today
Beulah Park is off 6- 7 mins early
Gulf off 5mins late

The Betfair off times are very much a guide.

Are there races that start earlier and others later?

The best thing to do is to go by the MTP times that you get on websites such as EBetUSA that the Cap'n gives above.

Thanks kiint

There is a page where you can see the Betfair SP of former horse races.
Is there something similar for greyhounds?

They're on the same page as the Horses data , just select the greyhound history files from

https://promo.betfair.com/betfairsp/prices/

They're updated everyday so best to automate something, probably also in the weekly data files at http://data.betfair.com/ but they'll be amongst all the other sports. They use csv format so easy enough to extract what you want just they'll be very large files.

Hi,

As far as I know, the greyhound racing off times can be delayed at the request of SIS if the particular race is going to overlap with a horse race. I think that SIS like to juggle the schedule to avoid overlap so as to maximise bookmaker turnover. Obviously it is not possible to avoid overlap with the greyhounds all of the time hence the SIS split screen scenarios with multi events at the same time.

For anyone with the intention of seriously trading BAGS greyhound markets then I would think that pictures are almost a mandatory requirement in order to provide visibility of events leading up to the off time such as:

1. Greyhounds approaching traps
2. Circling around waiting to be loaded into traps
3. Loading into traps
4. Hare running

These events are what determines the proximity to the actual off time. Personally, I am not a trader, however, if I was I would be uncomfortable if I did not have clear visibility of the above 4 events on a market I was seriously active in. Others may disagree on the need for pictures, it is just my personal opinion that they are required for trading.

For anyone placing back/lay transactions with a view on their selection and not intending to trade out then pictures are not so important and the online bookmakers radio commentaries provide some degree of information.

The Betfair csv greyhound data files provide two different types of information for greyhounds. The SP files provide what it says on the tin, ie, the Betfair SP without transaction volumes at varying prices. The Betfair "Other Sports" data files which include greyhound racing contain information about volume transactions at various prices but they need to be cleansed and filtered before use as they are prone to containing erroneous field values.

Management of the Betfair greyhound data files is a job for a database rather than a spreadsheet as database queries can quickly and automatically act on the source data once setup. Plus, the volume of information can quickly cripple a spreadsheet, especially in excel 2003 where it has a maximum row limit of 65,536 rows.

Coventry provide a betting forecast on their website on raceday.

You can also watch the races live.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
