Sharp minds don't work at Betfair but they certainly use it

Postby doris_day » Mon Sep 30, 2013 1:57 pm

There's a great thread under General Betting on the BF forum (which I'm banned from for bringing the PC into disrepute) entitled 'The PC shuld be scrapped' (or similar).

It seems BF have realised their error in part and are trialling a zero PC charge for Rugby Union bets.

But as user Templeton has pointed out, BF haven't realised exactly what the implication of what they've done are.

The last few pages of the thread make good reading. And important for any PC payer.

I was in there with the first of those to be hit when the PC came out and I voiced my objections loud and clear on the forum.
They banned me quite quickly.

I notice their forum is a shadow of its former self these days. We used to have some really interesting discussions going but most of the bright guys (with some notable exceptions) have either been banned or drifted away with the general decline in intelligent posts.
Its a shame. The Betfair management haven't got a clue what their site is for anymore and I hate to see the way a great concept has been ground down.
They will only learn when it finally hits them in the pocket. Why does it always have to be that way ?

The thread of BF is getting even more surreal with BF backtracking on how they deal with Rugby bets.

And these are people who are in charge of billions of our money. Jeez, they make bankers look like they know what they're doing.

They're only just realising that the PC is driving more people away than they're gaining from its collection.

What I've never understood is why they appear to want to ditch the great exchange model they created for something quite inferior.

Its slowing dawning on them that it was perhaps a bad idea. I hope for all our sakes they realise quickly enough to change it back before a tipping point occurs and everybody drifts off.

What I think is that they are really finding ways for things to work out for them. But not to the users. But I have learned to live with it. Image

I dumped BF a long time ago when I realised just how much my posterior would be stretched by them. BetDaq all the way for me at the moment as I don't need the liquidity and only pay 3%.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
