Delays - Time Delays on in-play Betting

Delays are something everybody should be aware of if they are betting in-play during an event. Most commonly an in-play bet will be subject to a 5 second delay, though it does vary between sports. Horse racing for example has a 1 second delay, darts is usually 3 seconds and some football matches may be as high as 8 seconds.

Furthermore, there is always some kind of delay in the “live” TV pictures you are watching. Overall this means that betting in-play can be very tricky and there is always the likelihood that somebody is seeing things before you do, so be careful if you are betting in such “live” environments.

Don't delay in downloading Gruss Software. Our streamlined betting interface gets your online betting as close to real-time as possible.

I think this has always been the case even before. Are there tips on how to get around these delays instead?

You either have to work for Betfair or know the right people inside :)

it's an in running delay there's no delay if u bet pre-race. Imo the 1 sec is pointless for horseracing but more understandable for soccer etc where the market can be suspended

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
