Spreadsheets with new BA Nov'14

Postby 2020vision » Wed Jul 16, 2014 1:12 pm

Does anyone know already if Excel spreadsheets linked to Betting Assistant
will still happily work with the new version that'll be coming out soon?
Or will they need modifying in any way? Will the new version contain
more or better facilities for automation?

Thanks in advance - Michael

Hi Michael,

Gary's plan is to migrate Betting Assistant over to the new API making sure that all the existing Excel triggers work exactly the same as they do now.
There are no plans to add additional automation as part of this transition.
Although new features which may or may not include new triggers will be worked on in parallel with this migration.

Regards,
Mark

With only three weeks of the old API remaining, any news on when the migration to API-NG will take place? Or has it already taken place and I haven't noticed...

Hi,

Gary has completed the coding and the new version is being thoroughly tested as we speak.

As soon as we are happy that everything is working as it should then we will officially release it.

We may invite users to try it via our Forum before the official release but in any case it will be released before the deadline which is November 1.

Regards,
Mark

Mark
You mention that it is being thoroughly tested at the moment; I appreciate it's early day, but any initial observations?

I'm pretty much confident that everything will be a smooth transition here. :)

I know some other vendors are letting their users act as beta testers before release to iron out any bugs, might be worth doing the same especially as we're so close to API6 switch off

I agree. It is currently with Betfair for approval, but we are entitled to let users test it. We would be grateful if anyone wanting to test it could email admin@gruss-software.co.uk and we will provide the download link.

Gary
Will the new version use just the existing commands or will there be new commands too?

Hi,

The new version is just a migration over to the new API.

As soon as that is out the way then we will look at adding new stuff.

First thing we plan to add is a Green Up trigger.

Regards,
Mark

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
