Yes. It was like it earlier. I put a warning message in the news page that appears when you first login. Befair API support don't work weekends as well. We are truly stuffed and our reputation is taking a nosedive. BETFAIR!!!!

Dont worry because anyone with any sense knows its not your software but the Betfair API itself.
I did lose a few hundred on that race which pisses me off somewhat but I know its nothing to do with BA. I shall give the BF helpdesk and put in a claim.

Gary,

I don't think your "opposition" are very happy with Betfair today either.

Prices are certainly jumping about at the moment.

The API is unstable and shouldnt be used at the moment in my opinion. Strange stuff is happening during the 13:30 race too.

It is really unuseable today.

They, have "robbed" me once before and it is not going to happen again.

I can accept my own stupidity in the past but, this is ridiculous.

Please make sure you email bdp@betfair.com and tell them of your displeasure.
The fact they only work Mon-Fri is appalling imo

Hi Gary, this was posted on the BF forum, is it correct?

They are getting database timeouts at the API server, if I'm reading the docs correctly.
BET_IN_PROGRESS it's called. It means your API app has no idea whether the bet has been placed or not.

They should take the API down all together until they fix the problem

I agree doris. If it hit them in the pocket they would do so, but they just keep collecting their commission and have no incentive to take it down.

Yes. The bet placement request will get this response which means the server did not process it within the timeout set on Betfair's server. Betting Assistant will still pick up the bet though as it retrieves a complete list of bets placed on each refresh. When this error is returned it is a good indication that all is not well though.

I assume Betfair will update the service forum at http://forum.betfair.com

Unfortunately the API team do not work weekends so we cannot ask them.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
